What to expect
This course, spread over 2 days, will introduce you to sewing with stretch fabric using an overlocker and/or a stretch stitch on a normal sewing machine in order to make yourself a beautiful wrap dress. Each day will be structured towards this end goal. We will be using the Appleton Dress from Cashmerette – a classic wrap dress with a choice of sleeve length. The pattern is very size inclusive and comes with ready done adjustments for different cup sizes (C – H) to avoid the gape you sometimes get with a wrap.
By the end of the second day you will be confident in sewing with stretch fabric. You will understand the concept of grain direction and how to use this to your advantage. You will be taught about negative ease and how to choose your garment size.
This course is suitable for beginners.
What is included?
- A copy of the pattern (Worth £25)
- Clear elastic for construction
- Use of overlockers and sewing machines
- Tea, coffee, snacks and expert tuition
- Handouts if needed
What to bring?
You will be given guidance about what fabrics and thread to choose on booking the course and how much you will need. The pattern will be provided and details about this will be sent out when you book the course. You may wish to bring a notepad and pen. You can bring a packed lunch or get something yummy in the lovely Fold Cafe at lunchtime. Tea, coffee and snacks are provided.
