Half Term Sewing for kids: Make a bucket hat

Looking for a fun, creative, confidence building and productive activity for your crafty son/daughter this half term? This workshop is perfect for those aspiring sewers aged  10+.  Each participant will make their own reversible bucket hat from upcycled or unwanted textiles (or fabric that they bring in themselves). They will be guided safely through all the processes and have fun along the way!

What to bring:

You do not need to bring anything to this class! The cost of the class includes all materials and equipment required to make a beautiful hat but you may choose to bring in your own fabric. Drinks and snacks are also included. There is no need to stay with your child but you will be expected to leave emergency contact details.

What to expect

The class is limited to 4 places so each participant will get plenty of support and help. Each child will have the use of a sewing machine and will be taught;

– How to measure and cut fabric safely using a rotary cutter.
– How to sew curved seams on a sewing machine using a seam allowance.
– How to safely press seams using an iron.
– How to ‘bag out’ (a sewing technique used to create a lining)
– How to top-stitch and finish by hand sewing.

This class is taught by Becca. She is DBS checked and has over 20 years of experience working with children in local schools and holiday clubs. We have toilets adjacent to the studio through a connecting door so we are all set up!
