Why get your garments repaired?

We live in a throw away society. Replacing an item is often cheaper than repairing it.

However, many of us are now buying less and buying better. Then, if we alter these garments to fit us and repair we:

save money
reduce textile waste
build a better relationship with our wardrobe.

Charity shops and companies such as Vinted and Depop provide affordable options for good quality garments. Often these items can be altered to fit as if they were made for you.

Below is a non-exhaustive list of repairs and alterations that we do. Every repair and alteration is priced carefully and reflects the time and care spent skilfully working on your garment in order to prolong its life.

Please Note: Payment for repairs and alterations should be made in advance. Please ensure items are laundered and clean prior to repair or alteration.

ZIPS

Price does not include zip (you may wish to provide your own)

Zip fix from £6 (always good to see if a simple fix is all that is needed)

Zip fly on trousers, chinos and jeans £25

Zip on dress or skirt from £18

Zip on dress or skirt with lining from £30

Invisible zip from £20

Fleece or jacket zip from £25

We do not replace zips on padded jackets or coats.

ALTER OR REPAIR HEMS

Price is per layer (so lining costs extra)

Lengthening is sometimes possible as well as shortening. Specific quotes possible.

Denim jeans narrow/straight £18

Denim jeans wide/flared from £20

Trousers narrow/straight £15

Trousers wide/flared from £18

Shorten top / shirt / t-shirt from £20

Shorten coat from £35

Skirts and dresses length from £20 (depending on width and finish)

We do not alter the size of tailored jackets at the shoulder

BADGE AND NAME TAPES

Woven name tapes and small woven badges/labels £1.50 each

Larger badges (eg. Scouts/Brownies/Camp blankets) £3 each

LINING REPLACEMENT

KNITWEAR

Visible darning from £20

De-bobble £8

Elbow patches from £20

NB Swiss/invisible darning not currently available
